We aim to be child centered and to tailor our programme to the individual needs of the young people. We liaise closely with parents/carers, ensuring that we incorporate activities to help with their development. - Personal, social and emotional skills such as learning to sit down with others, share, take turns, learn about feelings, concentrating for a longer period of time and socialising.
- Mathematical skills such as learning to count through the use of songs and syllables.
- Language skills such as speaking more clearly, forming words or sounds while singing repetitive songs and using Signalong as a form of communication. For information about Signalong please contact us.
- Creative skills such as using imagination through role play in songs or movement.
- Motor skills such as being aware of their own bodies and personal space through movement activities, using tactile stimuli or just learning to stand up/sit down or use physical coordination.
Parents/carers are encouraged to join in with their children/young people, giving the adults the confidence to ‘find their voice’ in a relaxed and non judgemental environment. During the coffee break parents are able to talk to staff, offer each other mutual support, share helpful information and build social networks. Siblings Siblings are able to socialize with other siblings and through supporting each other, break the feeling of isolation. Our staff have the time for siblings if they wish to talk or siblings simply have the freedom to ‘chill’
