What is DXA? Discovery Experience Arts is funded by NCC Short Breaks for young people aged 6 up till their 18th Birthday. A varied range of artistic activities, listed overleaf, are provided by specialist agencies working together to engage young people with complex needs. The sessions, focused on the young people are planned to meet individual needs based on the information you provide. The young people enjoy drama, music in various accessible forms, dance; can take part in group performance, carnival parades, fancy dress; help put together mock TV programmes, music video; create animated cartoons, landscapes; participate in camera work, sound engineering; compose & play own tunes. Additionally, quality care support through an accredited care agency ensures the personal needs and safety of each young person are met throughout the day. Here’s what some of our parents have said “If my son could be taught by art and music everyday he would come on leaps and bounds.” “It is lovely to hand him over to people you can trust……” “Staff make you feel at ease…..” “It gives my son a social outlet where he gets to meet and work with other people.” “The support staff and leaders were all fantastic and were able to include my daughter in all activities even although she was less able both physically & cognitively than other children.” “The film at the end is a fantastic way for parents to see what their children have done and as a parent of a child who doesn’t speak is much more meaningful than words written on a piece of paper.” “My son requires a high level of support. Few establishments can provide this and so breaks like this are difficult to find…….” “The scheme is well run, and children are given the appropriate level of support so that they can enjoy themselves and stay safe.” |
