Musical Keys has been approved as a provider by Norfolk County Council’s Children with Disabilities team, of Short Breaks (intended to give disabled children and their families a break from their caring responsibilities). We are therefore offering the following services from April/May 2017 onwards, which can be paid for using personal budgets.
However, many of these services can also be accessed and funded by adult personal budgets, direct payments and other means. What: Music and arts project where participants can take part in a variety of creative activities. Each session has a theme and is delivered by an experienced team of community artists and educators, so we are able to provide high quality and engaging activities and can ensure activities are age and ability appropriate.
Where: Norwich, Great Yarmouth, King’s Lynn, Attleborough & Stibbard (nr Fakenham)
When: Monday – Friday in school holidays (different locations on different days), 10am-3pm (5 hour session)
Who For: 6-18 year olds, high level of support
Cost: £295 with 1:1 support / £200 if own support provided per 5 hour session.
What: Two-day activity designed to prepare young people for adult life. Day 1 will cover a range of subjects that are pertinent to the transition to adulthood, specifically for those with additional needs (eg managing emotions, managing finance, independence). On day 2 participants will take thematic material from the first day and use it to inform creative activity.
Where: Open, Norwich
When: Wednesday & Thursday in school holidays, 10am-3pm each day, (5 hour day x2)
Who For: 12-18 year olds, low level support
Cost: £230 with 1:1 support / £130 if own support provided/not required per 5 hour session. (Sessions booked in blocks of two sessions)
What: Enabling young people with additional needs to try variety of progressive arts activities, that range from traditional (song-writing, rock school) to cutting edge (creative coding, green screen movie making). Sessions consist of a central group activity where participants can work as part of a team or focus on a personal objective. Activities are often connected to the community or cover themes pertinent to Norwich and Norfolk.

When: Wednesday & Friday in school holidays, 10am-3pm, (5 hour day)
Who For: 12-18 year olds, low -moderate level of support
Cost: £195 with 1:1 support / £95 if own support provided or not required per 5 hour session.
What: A fun and lively music group, focused on providing a social, engaging environment where participants can sing songs, play musical games and play along to traditional and contemporary music using a range of instruments. Participants, families and carers also have the opportunity to socialise and network, during a 20 minute coffee break provided in the middle of the session.
Where: Mid Norfolk Mencap, Dereham
When: Every Wednesday (excluding some school holidays), 10.30am – 12.30pm, (2 hour session)
Who For: 13+ year olds, moderate to high level of support
Cost: £73 with 1:1 support / £33 if own support provided per 2 hour session.
